Hey friends!! I wanted to make an updated post introducing myself to any clients or creatives who’d like to learn a little more about me. Its been TWO years since I updated my bio blog and so many incredible and life changing things have happened since then. If you’d like to learn more about how I started my business/got started feel free to check out my first post!
I’m Kai for those who don’t know me! Before you ask my name really is Kai Skye - Skye is my middle name and I love it. I am a wedding and portrait photographer who recently relocated to Miami. While casually moving across the country (I’m from Northern California) is daunting, I am so excited for all the new people and places I will get to photograph in 2022!
7 things about Kai:
I will always make my clients laugh! From dad jokes to loudly swearing because the light is THAT good, laughter is included with every session.
I identify as queer and non-binary & use they/them pronouns.
My husband, Cal, and our many fur babies make my world go round!
Babies are my favorite - in the belly, new to the world, or cake smashing for their birthday. I will probably call your baby a custom nickname for the rest of our time together.
My favorite accessory is my tattoos. My (very tattooed) mom told me a few years ago that I'd never get a job if I had visible tattoos -- oops!
Speaking of tattoos, I have not one, but two Harry Potter tattoos. Hogwarts is my everything. I cried when I went to The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter (more than once).
I know an insane amount of Disneyland trivia; however I’m about to enter the magic of Disney World now that we’re in Miami!
Of the many, many changes I’ve experienced in the last year, falling in love and marrying my husband is easily the best thing to have happened to me. I’ll be sure to make a post spamming everyone with wedding pics. But here are just a few snapshots from our elopement at San Francisco City Hall!
When we got engaged, we knew that we really just cared about being married; COVID life prompted the idea to say “I do” at SF City Hall where I’d been a photographer but definitely not a bride! It was the perfect backdrop for an intimate ceremony with just a few family and friends - I think we cleaned up pretty nice!
In addition to getting married, we added a fur baby to our household! (We previously had two cats and our lab Ace) We adopted our sweet baby Lupin shortly after moving in together. While Cal is a very patient dog trainer, Lupin was my first puppy that I’ve raised! She and Ace bring so much joy to my late night editing sessions, outdoor hikes, and casually trekking cross country!
Now that we’re in a completely new place, I am so excited for the creative and personal ventures to follow! I love meeting friends and capturing new moments in different landscapes. Growth and creativity are my drive this year - 2022 is looking great so far!
xoxo, Kai
